New beginning

I really need to do this this year. We know what our financial situation is and only on one income now and have no savings so I really have to get on top of this!

Start – sell things around the house that we don’t need any more.

Already sold a few kids toys this week!

Going backwards

We seem to be going backwards rather than forwards with this goal so need to take some productive action!

Just did a shopping trip tonight which was $200 and so much non-essential stuff. Really need to tighten the belt, be strong and not buy it. Also going to be hard to do because I don’t want Oberon to not have those things so need to buy them and be strong and Aaron and I not drink them. So starting from now….
- No alcohol
- No soft drinks
- No iced tea
Can still buy milk, mostly drink water but very occasionally can buy juice when on special.

Buy no chocolates, chips or lollies (aside for the one bag of glucose jelly beans I want while in labour).

Little differences

Cleaned out the fridges ad turned off the outside one so only 1 fridge running. Needed 2 over Christmas but had just been lazy and left it on.

Slowly slowly

I have been making sure we only have the air conditioners on if really essential. Don’t turn them on before lunch & make sure the massive lounge one is usually off as soon as the afternoon comes.

Have stopped buying millions of little toys for Oberon as he already has heaps!

And haven’t bought a gossip magazine in months! :)

Milk

Swapped the milk I buy. My usual one is the Misty Mountain Farm’s one, which is delicious! But costs $3.99 for 2lts. Now buy the cheapest brand & get 3lts for $3.

Might still buy the other one from time to time & support of the company but the majority of the time.

Tightening the belt

We are really struggling at the moment with money as home home with out baby not working and my husband lost his job and had to get a much lower pay one quite a few months ago.
We managed on savings for a whie but it’s hit crunch time and changes need to be made.

I’m not planning on going crazy (yet) and selling the TV to make house payments but going to start trying to cut down costs where ever I can.

Started tonight by doing a massive grocery shop. Didn’t buy any chips, soft drinks, chocolates or unnecessaries (even though I so wanted to) and bought Coles brand doritos and salsa for nacho’s where we would normally buy a name brand. Only a small change but a change never the less!
