Partaking in Peru 2 years ago

Another summer, another gift.
I was lucky enough to travel to Peru this August and spend a whole month exploring it’s rich history and culture.
The trip ended up being more of an adventure than I could ever imagine. From getting lost in a town full of drunk people, to staying in the Amazon and of course trekking in the Andes to Machu Picchu, it was an amazing trip.

I’m considering taking Spanish courses so I can volunteer in one of the small villages.

1 1/2 Down, Only the Rest of the World to Go... 3 years ago

So this may be a shock for some of you but, I am half black.
I bring this up as recently I had a family reunion with said black side of my family. But unlike most black family reunions you see in hollywood movies and sitcoms, where all the black people get together for a BBQ, we went out in class, and went on a Caribbean cruise. (the bbq was the first family reunion for those keeping score.)

We stopped by two islands, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.
Sadly, we were hardly at either long enough to get harassed by the locals, but still I’m checking it off the list (if only they get half a point)
While it was definitely not a rewarding experience such as Vietnam, I did get to do some fun things such as snorkeling and swimming with stingrays.

Someone pick that woman up who just fainted, yes I swam with stingrays, the most dangerous creatures on earth!!
I wrestled one to the ground and hog tied it.
Actually, they were pretty harmless, and I got to pick one up and yes, even kiss one of them. I can’t imagine the cooties I brought back, good thing they don’t check during customs.

1 1/2 down, who’s next?!

One Down, Only The Rest Of The World To Go.... 3 years ago

So I recently just returned from my first big traveling experience. I went to Vietnam for about 2 months. While there, I volunteered at an orphanage and also taught children English.
It was of course an amazing experience. The kids were so adorable (I saw at least two I seriously considered wanting as my own) I also met some wonderful people, that I hope I can keep in contact with throughout my life.

This has definitely lit a fire under me to travel more. And although I still have school to mash my way through, Hopefully I can make traveling a yearly thing during the summer.

So Please ask about the trip!
