Day 2 of Blake's book 23 months ago
It’s the visualization chapter
Looks like I’m one day ahead with my pink quartz healing light
  • Chose an image that arouses a sense of peace, comfort and holiness
  • See it within your mind as clearly as possible
  • The deepest meditation does not involve words or images but another experience, transcending human symbols altother. [I won’t be there for a while]

Day 1 practice 23 months ago

Thoughts are like snowflakes in a snowball, gently settle on the bottom

Focus sentence: Calm

Image: a pink quartz brigh light emitting calming waves in the bright white background

Stayed there for about 5 minutes

Felt much calmer afterwards, more serene. Moved more gracefully and slower. Like waking up from a resting nap.

Day 1 of Tobin Blake's book 23 months ago
  • The concept of catching the thread: a tiny spark at the end of a thread, blowing unnoticed in the wind of one’s thoughts
  • Do not react to your thoughts
  • Loosen your identification with your thoughts so that you can sink beneath them into a quiet sphere
  • Focus sentence: a center of a daisy while the petals of the flower are all your other thoughts. Sometimes the mind gets lost starring at all the pretty petals but your practice is to consistently return your attention ot the center of the flower, your focus sentence.
    My mantra will be “Calm”
Day 1 practice
  • Trying to get a feel for letting thoughts come without attachemet
  • Focus sentence: “I think but I am not my thoughts”
  • Be calm and gentle with yourself but also firm
  • Let thoughts rise and disappear

Bring the mind to stillness: a skill like any other 23 months ago

Starting “The Power of Stillness” (Tobin Blake) today.
Some insights from the book:

  • Meditation cannot be learned through observation. It must be practiced to be understood.
  • Discipline is crucial: commit yourself
I am committing for the next 30 days, mornings and evenings
  • A practice beyond ordinary human awareness
  • Perhaps you feel something is missing from your life – you feel a little empty hole near your core. This feeling might be so obscure you can’t exactly say what the problem is or why you somehow feel incomplete. There is a feeling that no matter what you do – life hold no comlete satisfaction.
  • Appreciate the life beyond personal expectations and circumstances
  • Our sadness and dissatisfaction are self-generated. In meditation we are not searching for yet another change of circumstance. Through meditation we learn to stop seeking fullfilment outside of ourselves.
