Styx is stux under a big poofy penguin Get off me, would ya? in Bug Haven is doing 26 things including…

Rid my house of Brown Widow Spiders and Black ones too. I HATE these thangs, but I LOVE the torturing and killing; especially by flame.

This is the bitch BEFORE the torture…

Here is the actual TORCHING...

And let’s not forget the AFTER-burn pic…

SCORCHED!!!!!

How sweeeeeeeeeeet! And quite satisfying.
sigh, of happiness…

The Brown Widows are TWICE MORE venomous than the Black Widows! 2 years ago

And that seems to be what we have MORE of… They’re egg sacs are even creepier, with the little spikey things. I forgot to post this earlier, but I had the closest encounter ever. I unfolded my Beach Chair at the beach a few days ago. There was one on the seat of my chair, and 5 egg sacs under the arm rest. Yikes!

And another six bite the dust... another one down, another one down, another one bites the dust.... 2 years ago

I located, and murdered 5 more ADULT Brown Widows and 1 Black Widow Spider today! (However I’ve read that Brown Widows can mimic the Black ones) Complete with egg sacks and all. Also killed countless young babies… Yayus!!! This is both terrifying and satisfying at the same time. How can that be? We finally found a spray that slows them down a little, and sometimes makes them fall to the ground, so we can either squish or burn the beeotches. Depending on their location, of course. I’m taking it easy with the grill lighter—I don’t want to burn the house down, like last time. LOL

I just don’t get it. Everything I’ve read tells me that these horrifying creatures like to live in woodpiles, INSIDE boxes…things like that. Almost all of these are out in the OPEN, just clinging to something, anything, everything around our entire house. This time there was one under the eve of the house, one on the garden hose handle, one under the little table thingie attached to a BBQ grill. (a different one than the “fan afire” episode) one underneath the Electric Meter Box and one under a wooden table that was sitting on the back patio. The only one that was INSIDE something was in a toy box where we keep all our basketballs, and other outdoor sports equipment. This is where there were HUNDREDS of little round white babies…

The bad news is, they each had between 3 and 5 egg sacks each. I’ve done my homework. There can be 100-300 eggs in each sack. So, even conservatively, that’s about 24 egg sacks, with an average of 200 eggs, would be 4,800 NEW SPIDER BABIES hatching!!! We can tell if they’ve hatched or not by the way they “POP” when you burn them. If they light up quick and burn quickly, they’ve ALREADY HATCHED! :( The good news is, they are cannibals, so they eat each other if there is not enough food. However, here in Florida, in the year ‘round insect state, there is food a-plenty. But still, usually AT LEAST 30-50 make it if there isn’t!

I don’t see how I can EVER accomplish this goal, with them reproducing at this rate. Plus, we’ve killed some in one area, then check back a week later, and there is another one in its place. We also know that our camper is LOADED with them on the under-carriage, around the wheel wells. But you won’t find me crawling under there to get them.

So, PLEEEEEEEEASE, if ANYONE has any tips on getting rid of these terrors, let me know. If we ever found one INSIDE THE HOUSE, I don’t think I could ever sleep again…

Well, I almost caught our house on fire trying to accomplish this goal :O 2 years ago

My rant for the day!

We’ve been burning Black/Brown Widow spiders with a grill lighter. (To make sure any tiny babies are gone that we can barely see) Plus this usually burns their legs pretty fast so they can’t go anywhere… like up your leg or something.

Anyway, late last night I went onto the screen porch and saw a big Brown Widow on a large plastic fan underneath a big propane BBQ grill. It had a really elaborate web system throughout the fan and attached to the legs of the grill. (they don’t usually have big webs) So, I went to burn the Widow herself, and she got away because she had such a big web. (first time THIS ever happened) I was chasing her all around the fan, but was afraid to touch it to pull it out from under the grill… So I decided to burn an egg sack attached to the fan. BIG MISTAKE! The egg sack caught on fire and went “POP” like they always do, but the darn fan CAUGHT ON FIRE too!!! Just a flicker of a flame at first, then a big flame… I yelled for my sister and we started running back and forth to the kitchen filling up glasses of water…

The flame would go down to just a little flicker, then start glowing and growing AGAIN. We just couldn’t run fast enough back and forth, plus we didn’t want to fill the glasses up too full because of the time it took to fill them! Finally I grabbed a “sand castle” bucket (for the beach) and filled it half way while my sister was screaming out on the porch. It took TWO BUCKETS full! It was TERRIFYING!!! Especially since their was a propane tank attached to the grill! I kept waiting for it to catch on fire and explode! I can’t believe we didn’t wake my parents up with all the screaming. They would have been teeeocked… After the whole ordeal was over, we still never found the darn spider, and didn’t want to touch the fan.

We were standing their shaking in our PJ’s, watching to make sure the fire was out, when I realized that there were 16 cabinet doors leaning on a the wall (my parents had them outside, sanding them to refinish) and all the water was running down and getting all these WOODEN doors wet. So then I had to start picking them up, one by one to move them. Problem was, we found ANOTHER BROWN WIDOW with a web system attached to the doors and a broom. We managed to kill that one by squishing it with a shoe… But moving all those boards with spider webs on them in the semi-dark, with ANOTHER BROWN WIDOW on the loose on the OTHER side of them was horrifying!!!

I still can’t believe that this PLASTIC was SOOOOO flammable and hard to put out!!! My parents don’t know yet, but I’m sure I’m in just a leetle bit of trouble. :(

This is definitely going AT THE TOP of the list, in my book of THE MOST STUPID THINGS I HAVE EVER DONE!!! Lesson to all the other boys and girls out there… this is why no one should play with fire, huh?

Help somebody, we are surrounded by spids!!!!! 2 years ago

YIKES!! Our house is FULL of black AND brown widow spiders!!!! We haven’t found any INSIDE, but they are EVERYWHERE outside. We’ve been killing at least a dozen per day… They are on the meter box for electric, telephone box, inside the A/C thingie, around the windows, in the bushes, inside lawn chairs, just about EVERYWHERE!!!! Even inside those SPRINGS that hold up the trampoline… In EVERY bracket that holds up our above-ground swimming pool! ALL UNDERNEATH our camper, even around the wheel wells, under the steps. On almost every fence post and under the boards that hold up all those fence panels. Literally EVERYWHERE… Just about anything you look at or pick up, has one in it. I left a little plastic cup outside for a few days, and YES, there’s one in there too!!

We’ve been lighting them AND THEIR EGG SACKS on fire with a grill starter. lol Just to make sure we kill all the babies. My parents have looked everywhere for an insecticide but none work unless you spray them DIRECTLY on them. Since there are SO MANY, it’s like impossible to find them all. HELP! Anyone know how to get rid of them? I’m afraid to go outside. And I’m afraid they are going to come INSIDE!!!!

That’s my rant for the day, but PLEASE help if you see this and know anything about it!!!!
