Certainly some progress.

Strangers I have talked to lately:

Kelsey. I know her name nowww so she’s no longer a stranger. In fact, I have her number as well (and should probably see if she’d be up for FP tomorrow). Anyway, we talk pretty often now, riding together in the mornings on the streetcar. Stranger-turned-acquaintance.

I recommended drinks to two fellas who sat next to me at Kelly’s O yesterday. They looked like they needed a good suggestion (black and blue) and they appreciated it and ordered them.

Also yesterday, I was walking along Vaughn and passed a gallery with a birdcage in the window. In the cage was a brain. Outside, a guy was smoking and I assumed he probably lived in the apts. above the gallery so I say “wonder what that’s all about?” and it turns out he’s the owner and says “Let me show you.” He totally opened up, turned on the lights, turned on the brain piece (which didn’t do a whole lot—not his work) and I checked out some other cool pieces around. Justin is his name and I invited him to the Vaughn house for a beer but he said he had to be up early and was on his was home. He gave me a flier for a new artist opening there this upcoming week (or maybe the week after) and I think I’ll pop in.

Another stranger was a guy on the street corner with me waiting on traffic and when I looked over I noticed he was wearing a Rosetta Stone shirt (the learn-a-language program Michael Phelps learned “Chinese” with before the Olympics last year… ahem) so I ask, somewhat sarcastically, “how many languages have you learned?” and he’s says “3 fluently” and moves on quickly to say which he had learned, is learning and wants to learn. My work was less than a block away so I just kinda said ‘right on’ and dropped off. He said to go see him at the Rosetta Stone cart in the mall. hahaha. Wonder if he’d hook me up with his employee discount?? =P

I see these 3 girls every morning...

on the streetcar and it turns out two of them work in my building; one on my floor. I think its just a matter of time before I strike up a conversation with at least one of them.

Let's be strangers no mo'!

I’m a very friendly person and can be quite outgoing but I realized recently that I don’t go out of my way to talk to strangers. Sure I strike up conversations with cashiers, servers and people that kind of have to acknowledge me and occasionally I’ll talk to someone at the park or on the bus. I don’t think bars, parties or clubs count because Amber with a few drinks in her talks to everybodyyyyyy. That brings up a good point: that in a drinking enviornment I have no problem whatsoever striking up a conversation with anyone and yet sober I assume people are too busy or uninterested in talking to me. hmmmppppfffftttt

Anyway…I was walking home from my hike last night and a woman was walking in front of me with a super cute dog and I wanted to ask what kind of dog it was but instead of just doing so, I debated with myself about doing so and then she turned down a different street. Lame. I immediately thought about adding this goal and now I have so… watch out now.
