Wow, I actually managed to do this. So I started working (had a really good 3 month contract), working from 09:00 to 18:00. What I came to realise was that I didn’t have the time to go out and spend my money, so it all just built up and before I knew it there was a lot of money in my account! There still is and I am trying to be careful with it. It feels so good to be able to tell my parents NOT to send me money (even though they still insist on doing so – another reason for the lovely state of my bank accounts!). And getting a pay cheque every month…feels great!
I basically only had the weekends to spend my money, since I came home exhausted everyday. And even on a Saturday I would sleep in till like 14:00!
I would definitely recommend getting out of student life and into working full time as a means to save money. You won’t have the time to spend it! Having too much idle time on your hands is a sure fire way to spend money unnecessarily.
I’m not done with this; it’s definitely one of those ongoing goals.
