Not happening...

...because Linas found a family. Also, my mom, surprisingly, has offered our downstairs couch to two hurricane refugees. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside for being such a big part in making this happen, but I never thought self-centered, no-spare-bedroom Debbie would do this before my dad, with his two potential spare bedrooms and radical, sudden ideas that he very nearly accomplishes, like: move to Africa, open a diner and name it after my dog (he would have called it Stella’s Favourites), donate all of our Christmas presents to the needy and spend Christmas at a soup kitchen (only reason that didn’t work was because my sister and I were very selfish 6- and 7-year-olds and pitched a huge fit, if I remember correctly), etc. I would think that my belief of “anyone with a spare bedroom should be using it” would catch on to him before it would catch on to Debbie… But then again, Debbie wouldn’t be doing this if the two refugees in question weren’t the daughter and son-in-law of a member of her garden club, who specifically asked us if we could manage to take them in. Well, I’ll keep working on Dad, anyway. And someday, maybe once I move out, I’ll host a foreign exchange student. So I’ll keep this on my list of things, for now.

I was a foreign exchange student, unfortunately for a month only, but now there’s this guy from Lithuania in my drama class at school and he’s in need of a host house. His name is Linas, pronounced lihn-uss, and he’s really nice. I love his accent, and we have a spare bedroom. I’m just torn, though, because I was also thinking about the Hurricane Katrina victims.
