Things are going quite well, and it is an excellent time for my son and I in our lives. Both he and I seem to be having a lot of fun with this and learning too!
I am becoming more confident as Mom the Teacher, and he responds quite well.
We are taking an ecclectic approach, mixing some lessons, with crafts and learning games, as well as just doing daily things, like cooking, walking, exploring, and finding interests we both have an learning more about them. It truly is very rewarding. I feel like it is the most important thing I have done with my life so far!

Tomorrow is day one of “grade one” of my son’s homeschooling. I am VERY excited. :)

My son, who will be 6 in August, is adjusting as I had expected to public school. He enjoys the activities and socialization that public school has to offer, but he is having difficulties with the rules and constantly seems to be concentrating more on being “good” than making his brain grow. HOWEVER, he is making progress, and at some time, I do think kids need to learn to adjust.
For now, he says he would like to try first grade, and I am going to let him do just that. I have a feeling in the future he will want more and be tired of the unneccesary challenges that exist in the public system, but for now he is up for it. I don’t want to pull him while he is willing to hold his own, that in itself, I think is an important lesson for him.
I am not working, and going to college. If he doesn’t want to stay the entire year, or if it isn’t working out, I will pull him. For now though, it looks like public school for him..

My son seems to be adapting to public school really well… He likes school, and now I have worked my schedule to where I can volunteer in his class and am home when he is off school. It’s quite amazing the progress he is making. I don’t know if I should pull him. Part of me thinks he would benefit greatly, another part of me knows he is an exceptionally social child. He likes school. I don’t know. I just want to do what’s best for him, and what I am able to do.

My son is 5 and we have had him in kindergarten this year, and we aren’t happy. I always told my husband that I would want to homeschool our son, but it always seems that we can’t afford to. I only work part time – 5 hours a day… and it seems like there just wouldn’t be time. I know you can have your kids do it online, but that’s not what I had in mind.. I really want to, but I don’t see it able to happen any time soon…. It is very frustrating.
