Scheduling 'Me-Time'

I’ve been having health issues off and on. I tried walking 1/2 a mile about 2 weeks ago and I have been sick ever since. They say take it easy when you start and I thought that was EASY! It’s a lesson to myself that I should have started this long ago before I got sick in the first place because now I have more barriers in front of me to make it more difficult to stick to this goal. I also have more to strive for. I know that losing this weight is going to make it easier on my body and that is what it needs right now.

The question I have anytime I start a new goal though is,
“What does this goal mean to me?” A lot of times I will put an ambiguous goal out there – that has no clear defined limits. For me this goal means that I need to get to a point where I can do at least 1 hour of exercise 5 days a week. I don’t know how long that is going to take… and it’s ok. It’s definitely time to start.



Working on it.... but not there yet....

I have started taking the stairs at work 3-4 days a week (that’s me lugging all 360 lbs up 7 flights! woo) and started riding my bike to work 2 days a week. I live about 9 miles to work and so 2 days is all I can handle right now… but I am building on it. I am already noticing positive changes in my body and rediscovering my love of being active.

I would really like to incorporate some gym and yoga time into my week. There is even a gym AT my work… so I really have no excuses! I am going to keep this in mind and set a reminder for myself to work more on this goal. I think it is something that is very much worth it!
