I started up again on the treadmill and did it twice last week and twice this week. Slower than before, but at least I’m on there. each time b/n 15 and 30 minutes.
The fun thing is, everyone’s been complimenting me on losing weight! I went to weigh myself and I’m down to a weight I thought I wouldn’t see again! (I like not having a scale at home so that I don’t obsess over it)
For the rest of the summer I never got back on the treadmill :(.
I was away again for 3 weeks and I did do things like walk on the beach and ride a bike, but not much.
I went to Santo Domingo to study Spanish, so it wasn’t really a vacation, but it was so much fun, that it was! I walked ALOT! From where I stayed, I took a “carro publico” across the bridge and then walked 8 blocks to school. Then after school I would walk all over the Zona Colonial, and later walked the 8 blocks back to the street with the bridge.
Then, by the second week one of the students found a gimnasio 2 blocks from the school and they only charged about $10 for a week membership. I went there 3 times, and hour each time, they had a nice elliptical machine, treadmill and stationery bikes (other stuff too that I didn’t use) and I joined in on a kick boxing class for a little while. Some girls and I even went to a resort for one night and there was a “fitness room”, actually it was not good and not air conditioned, but I worked out a little. The resort was nice and probably just bcs it’s so new, they haven’t done much w/ the workout room yet.
Today I was able to do 2 miles (more than 3k).
Monday is the 3-month deadline of the goals I set in February. I’m pretty happy with the results.
For the past few weeks I’ve played soccer several times. It’s been fun. I think I get more exercise on the treadmill, but It’s been good to have variety.
Yesterday and today I was able to do 1.25 miles in about 20 minutes.
I realized yesterday where my Mom was when she was my age. On President’s day (end of February) of her 47th year, she had a major stroke and was in a rehabilitation center for 6 months. After that she still had a long way to go to learn to speak and do other things again. For me, on President’s day I was listening to a talk encouraging me to set goals and I had started (again, of course) to exercise regularly 2 weeks before that. Setting goals that day has led me keep exercising about 3x/week for the past 12 weeks. And I appreciate the fact that I CAN walk and run and talk and all those other things that became so difficult for my Mom. BUT I do thank God because of how my mother has come through this trial—close to God, sweet, loving, encouraging to all her children and grandchildren and grateful for all blessings.
