the only way I’m going to put away smartly is to learn how to hide it from the damn goverment.

in the family room – my 20 year old one is officially falling apart…..
broke this month. I think my hubby finally figured out that when you don’t get a raise and then you get a 3% freeze/cut on your pay, you come up with hardly anything!
I will save more next paycheck, which of course, is at the end of the month, which I will then use to buy Christmas presents.
and plunked it all down on my new china cabinet…but at least I didn’t pay for it on credit. So now, I’m saving for Christmas, and then I am going to pay another card down 2nd semester. With my summer windfall, I think I will buy a new couch for the family room since the one in there is 20 years old and ripped.
I deserve that much. Hopefully, next year, I can start saving more money in a 403(b) plan, and begin to put away for kiddos’ college.
towards the dining room hutch that will be here shortly….
I started looking into 457(b) and 403(b) plans and the MOST plan for DD’s college…..
So comforting to know that I’m working for the next 10 years to pay for their college!!!
if you see the get out of debt goal, you will know I’ve failed this month…..Damn cell phones!
I have been saving up for a china hutch for three years now – and that money got blown by car repairs, redecorating after the kids left the water on and destroyed my house, putting up the new fence so the neighbors don’t walk through my yard, etc…. So finally after I saved my last three checks, I plunked down $1,100 on the hutch. The balance will be due by November 15 or so – so I plan on saving half my checks until then (the other half going to the credit card companies), and I’ll finally get my hutch AND I still follow my get out of debt plan.
Plan for old hutch? Sell in the garage sale and recoup some of the money.
Then start saving for a new family room sectional couch – I have had my old one for 20 years now – and it’s ripping and sagging – even slip covers won’t save this. Put this one in the basement for the kids to wreck even more than they already have.
At some point, need to start saving small amounts for the DD’s college tuition – the reason I have been back to work full-time for the past 4 years.
but I do have bills to pay, so I need to do that, and then figure up what I have left to pay on the credit cards…..but I’m proud of myself…I haven’t really splurged on much.
for the hutch I wanted…but then had to pay medical bills and lawyers.
Now….I’ll start again!
