FINALLY! 3 years ago

I got my new running shoes! I went up to Bellingham today and had breakfast with my sister, afterward we went to Fairhaven Runners and one of the employees there helped me find a pair of shoes. I ended up with the Mizuno: Wave Inspire, they look just like those in the picture except they have black and dark blue accents instead of yellow and light grey.

The guy who helped me, Steve, was super nice, very helpful, and seemed generally excited to be helping me find my first official pair of running shoes. He had me take off my shoes, balance on each foot, walk back and forth and then watched me run to see what I would need in a shoe. I tried on two other pairs before these ones. They’re fabulous, incredibly comfortable, great support, and they don’t make my ankles feel weak when I run.

I will definately be going back there for all of my running needs; I already found my next purchase while I was there, it’s a tiny can of pepper spray that is attatched to a strap that loops around your hand. Definately a must have, can’t be too careful, plus it makes Chris nervous when I run alone and it would give him some peace of mind.

I didn’t have a chance to check (have to work in a short while, didn’t have a ton of time to look around, but I want to see if they carry this sports bra, it was reccomended to me by a girl on a forum, she says it ‘murders chest bounce’, which is what I need in a bra.

A friend/co-worker just stopped in to pick up her pay check, she is an experienced runner who has been cheering me on in my goal since she found out I had an interest in it. She asks after my progress every now and again and when she brings a running magazine to work will leave it for me to read for inspiration.

I told her recently that my running has been postponed because I don’t have/currently can’t afford good enough shoes, which she sympathized to, so when she came in today to pick up her paycheck she brought a coupon for $10 off a pair of shoes at Fairhaven Runners (where I had mentioned I was planning to get my shoes at) and gave it to me! It expires on the 12th so I have to use it this week.
Looks like I’ll finally be getting my shoes!

No running shoes for Christmas, though I did get a $25 Visa gift card which I plan on using toward the purchase.

I was going to get them last week when I got paid, but my car needed new shoes more than I did. I hope to get them next week, I miss running.

Postponed... 4 years ago

I was the kid in your P.E. class in highschool who always had an excuse to get out of activities. I hated sports and excersize, turns out I just wasn’t doing the right activity!
I started running in July of this year (‘05) and am really enjoying it.

Unfortunately I’ve suffered from problems with my feet all my life and I need really good shoes, the ones I have now aren’t cutting it. (Which makes sense, they’re my trail runners and the only surface I have to run on near my house is asphault and concrete). So I’m postponing this goal for a while, hoping to maybe get a new pair for christmas (because I sure as hell can’t afford them!).
