I am afraid I have fallen so far behind on this, 2 years ago

I may not be able to recollect everything I’ve watched. I will work on it…tomorrow. :-)

The Simspons Movie 2 years ago

Funny and irreverent – even more so than the show – and actually a fairly entertaining story. This isn’t brilliant or anything, but you should check it out if you are a fan of the show. 8 out of 10 (cuz I am a fan!)

The Matrix (1999) 2 years ago

I thought this was okay the first time I watched it years ago, but I really, truly enjoyed it this viewing. It could be that I was watching it with my son who was jumping up and down singing its praises he was so delighted with it. I remember thinking Trinity’s kiss to Neo was hokey the first time I watched this. I loved it this time. It reminded me of a fairy tale and it made Neo whole. I am sure everyone has seen this, so I won’t bother with a plot summary! 9 out of 10

Don’t get this; don’t even think about it! A total dud of a comedy starring Ben Stiller and Jack Black as unlikely entrepreneurs. I remember seeing the commercials and thinking it looked TERRIBLE, but it’s been a couple of years, and I thought, “It’s got Stiller and Black in it; it has to be funny!” No, it doesn’t. It was a torture fest. My husband kept commenting that just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, it let him down even further. I am rating this 3 out of 10 and that’s flippin’ generous. It’s been a long time since I’ve rated a movie that low. I hope it will be a long time again.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox 2 years ago

Interesting, funny, great documentary about Emanuel Bronner, insane asylum escapee and seventh generation soapmaker. His soap became popular with the counter-culture in the 60s and each bottel contained a message about his unifying religious beliefs. His goal in life was to unite planet ship earth and spread the teachings of his Moral ABCs. Narrated by his slightly less eccentric (but still very peculiar and likeable and funny himself) son. The company is still going today spearheaded by his sons and grandsons, and it actually gives away 70% of its net profit to charitable causes. 9 out of 10

Laberinto del fauno, El (2006) 2 years ago

a/k/a Pan’s Labrynth

Dark, lovely, gruesome, violent, beautiful little fairy tale for adults. There is a little history thrown in although I have already forgotten the lesson a week later: facists and Spain and WWII, I remember that much. It got off to a bit of a slow start for me, but I grew to love the story as it evolved. 8 out of 10

Hard Candy (2005) 2 years ago

Ugh, this is one of those movies I would call technically “good” and “well done”, but I thought it was absolutely awful to watch and I never want to see it again. A twisted 32-year-old photographer into adolescent girls and a twisted 14-year-old who is into torture meet for a distressing and, what seems endless, movie. The two actors are really good (Although I didn’t believe the girl as a 14-year-old from the start. I am around 14-year-olds all the time; that would be an exceptional 14-year-old), but I didn’t like either character in the movie. Technically this deserves a higher rating, but I hated the movie so 6 out of 10

Hoot (2006) 2 years ago

Not completely terrible movie about some kids with conservation in mind who stop a developer from building in a place where rare owls nest. Luke Wilson is in it as the bumbling police officer and he is pretty funny. Kind of sweet, a little boring. My nine-year-old thought it was really great. 5 out of 10

Block Party (2005) 2 years ago

a/k/a Dave Chapelle’s Block Party

Interesting, entertaining, funny-as-hell, with great music documentary about Chapelle organizing a “block party” in Brooklyn, NY. Fabulous musical performances by: The Roots, Mos Def, Kanye West, Dead Prez, and a bunch of other people I don’t know, but the absolute highlight for me were Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Wow, amazing singers and I am going to look up their albums after this! Big disappointed was a much-anticipated and anti-climatic reunion of the Fugees as headliners.

I love, love, love Dave Chapelle. Brilliant, hysterical, non-judgmental. 9 out of 10

Mr. Deeds 2 years ago

Adam Sandler plays a lovable, big-hearted, small town goof (so his regular role) who inherits $40 billion from an uncle he never knew. Predictable and with plot holes so large, my nine-year-old was questioning them, but still very funny. I will give it 7 out of 10. I have a soft spot for Sandler and movies that make me laugh really hard.
