Picking up the keys tomorrow. Moving in a a couple of weeks.

Owning my own home is exciting, sobering, scary. I feel different. I know it’s good, but I’ve been such a drifter all my life, going from rental to rental, from job to job in town to town.

Now I have a place to be. It’s strange.

But so wonderful that we have a home. Our own home. Whole load of emotion going on.

It’s a very good thing.

4 days to go…

Halifax reissued the mortgage offer (with the correct figures this time).

So many fuck ups. Weeks and weeks of stress. Next time I’m going to be checking and chasing everything from the start.

You can’t trust people to do their jobs. Assume everyone involved will fuck up (or just not do anything) if you don’t call and hassle them every single day.

Anyway deep breath we should complete next Friday. The excitment and joy is gone though. Hope it comes back when we get the keys.

My brain is fried. I feel like crying.

Got the mortgage offer and was set to exchange/complete then found out there’s a mistake in the figures and the paperwork is back at the frigging Halifax.

We should have got the keys today…

We have curtains, a sofa, bedding and a kick-ass nest of tables all ready to go.

Loos like we will be getting our mortgage offer next week. It’s all approved (we hear) and just needs to go to the legal underwriters.

If everything goes super well, we could be moving at the end of the month.

I’m thinking positive and will assume that everything from here onwards will run smooth and quick.

Can’t believe the sale came back from the dead. So cool.

It’s been way over a month since we applied for a mortgage. It might have even been two months.

If we dont hear tomorrow, I’m going to go insane.

Thanks to a second survey funded by the developer. We got another £10,000 knocked off the asking price.

Should know if it’s a goer tomorrow.

The champagne will have to wait. The sale feel through. All kinds of reasons too boring to go in to.

Still no news from the bank about our mortgage offer. I thought we were almost there.
And we had some worrying news from the financial advisor. He said that the bank’s surveyer had made some noises about the house being overpriced.
I’ve been looking at other two-bed properties in the area and, bloody hell, maybe ‘our’ house is way overpriced. Don’t want to jump straight into negative equity by buying a house for more than it’s worth.
I knew housebuying was supposed to be stressful. But I somehow thought it would be different (easier) for me. It isn’t.

The bank has the survey back. But will not be looking at our case until Tuesday.

Saw the house again yesterday. It’s TRES BON!
