I did expect it really; I hoped I’d get a shot but I knew I’d be up against people with way more pertinent experience. Still, it was a good ‘practice’ application and at least I finally knocked up a half decent CV!

A door creaks open, just a fraction,

and I’ve got my fingernails in the crack.

This would be the most fantastic opportunity. There are five positions per year; the closing date has been and gone for this year; out of the blue one position has opened up again. I’ve submitted my CV.

Well first I need to finish the BSc...

this September being the start of my final year. I also need to keep up the grades and get that First I’ve been aiming for all along (so far so good with the two years completed).

So this year I’ll be doing my research and final year dissertation, prepping for PhD applications and generally being very, very busy.

Just have to stay focussed and it will all be fine. It will. I can do this.
