I’ve been in Korea like 4 months now! Eeek! How has time gone so quickly?! I bought a book in the first weeks, and learned the alphabet in like 2 days, then I haven’t opened the book since. I’ve picked some up just being around, and I’ve learned to say:
-Hello
-Good bye (okay, it’s almost the same as hello, so I actually just say hello again. But I’m still counting it)
-How much does it cost?
-Thank you.
-No meat!
-The numbers 1-10

& some random words. That’s pitiful! Four months! I was pretty sure I was going to be fluent by now! There’s a Korean class starting uh, tomorrow that I signed up for but I don’t have time to go to it really. Freaking work. I hate it. I am supposed to have dinner every Friday night with my friend, and I’m going to help her with English and she’s going to help me with Korean. Two other women at my work wanted to do that, too, so maybe I’ll take them up on it. But I need to get my butt in gear!

Why Korean?

My boyfriend is most likely moving to Korea in February for a job, & I’m most likely tagging along. While I’m there, I think I might like the learn Korean. I like languages a lot, & it’s so much nicer to be able to speak the language of the country you’re in. Plus it’ll probably come in handy, as Korea is a growing market in business. Not that I work in business, but if I ever needed a new career, or something! On the other hand, it’s probably quite difficult, who knows how long we’ll be there, & maybe I should focus on a language that more people speak, like French of Spanish (& I would like to improve my French!), or a language that I think is cool, like Japanese. Hmmm. Food for thought.
