stay sober

So I’ve been sober since january 6 and I leave Korea the 21st off to Illinois to my next base. This should be interesting because of the fact that they upgraded my treatment. I really don’t know what to expect. I was never really that good when it came to change. So I’m kinda nervous. But I think it’ll be good to be back in the United States. We’ll see :)

Well here’s the story….

When I was 23 I came into the military looking to make something out of my life. I made it through basic fairly easy and went to tech school with a positive attitude not knowing that I would return to my old ways of boozing it up badly and be crazy. Just to let everybody know….I love drinking, and everything around drinking. I barely made it out of tech school because of a little “alcohol related insident” where I now wear the smiley face scar on my chin from where I slipped on the bathroom floor hitting my chin on a urinal. After being found not guilty for Drunk’n Disorderly and Destruction of Goverment Property, I was off to my next base in South Korea. Little did I know it was a drinkers heaven. I don’t regret this part of my life at all. I have met a couple people there that I consider to be close friends to this day. But anyways, almost everyday off was spent hanging out, having fun, and drinking until dawn. The first year I was in Korea was a hard adjustment at first but became easier as the days past. The second year was even harder because it was mostly spent saying good-bye to everybody that I became close with. Close to the end of my 2 year tour, I got in a little trouble for being drunk’n disorderly again and took the punishment that is now delaying my promotion. I was sent to alcohol classes and I was told to stay sober till further notice. Easier said then done. After two attepts of trying to stay sober….I’ve been given one more chance….one more chance to not fuck up my life…..one more chance to make something of myself….and one more chance for a bright future. So the challenge begins for me…..To stay sober until the military says its ok.
