make people understand that declawing a cat is a painful unnecessary surgery and there are better ways to deal with cat's scratching

The way i see it, if you are a true, genuine cat lover, there is no point in owning fancy lounge chairs or sofas. They are gonna claw it regardless (especially when your not home). I would rather have torn up furniture than a depressed de-clawed cat that has been denied his natural instincts for clawing.

I have had many cats in my life, and I have NEVER had any of them declawed. Of course they scratch everything, but I secretly love their destructiveness! I have hung a long piece of carpet on the wall in my house, and my cats love to claw at this, and climb up it. Makes a greaat talking point when I have visitors.
