Food log

I know we are definitely eating better, but am finding it difficult to look back and see it in tangible terms, so am going to keep a little bit of a food log here to just help me keep track on our eating habits as a family and continue to improve them.

Generally

still eating better…

had home made curry last night, which was ok – could have been better but realised half way through recipe i was following that it didnt tell you when to add key ingredients, and the meat it had suggested I used really wasnt the best for the dish… still edible though!

Home made soup on the agenda for tomorrow night, roast pork and veggies sometime this weekend, and have a toad in the hole coming up… then its monday and meal planning for the next fortnight again!

Wierdly, after a month of cutting out most processed food, feeling generally a lot better in mood and health wise I think.

Could do with a little more appreciation from the man of the house for the effort going into cooking, but not much forthcoming :( Im really putting a lot of energies and efforts to meal planning (both to eat better but also to keep us on a budget) and into cooking healthy meals from scratch, and feeling a little like the only person appreciating those efforts is me, which is a bit of a shame.

Delicious

Made a delicious chicken in mushroom sauce thing last night, it was so yum, sadly oren decided to eat most of mine, but what I had was the yummiest thing I had eaten in weeks!

Moroocan lamb tagine tonight with sweet potato mash. Not bad – not a hugelover of stew type dishes but this one isnt too bad!! Kids ate it all up too so that was good :)

Untitled

This continues to go well…

Sticky honey roasted chicken fillets
Stilton crushed new potatoes with steak went down a treat
Salmon with pak choi and broccoli last night, all marinated in chilli and ginger
Made a wonderful chocolate marble cake on monday, which is huge and so lasted us all week (kids love it for dessert/snack!)

Tending to have bagels with humous or cheese for lunch, so all in all, am quite pleased with progress of this goal. The kids tend to enjoy the salads which I am making for them on a lunchtime too.

All good, very happy with this!
