rare that i find being a hippie a real challenge

but last week at work i ran into some resistance. the company is setting up a 401K plan (which i certainly appreciate – helping me save for retirement is a good thing) but we have very little flexibility and very few options about how are money is invested. i met with the folks in the corner office (not hippies) and pleaded my case to allow me to self direct my monies (in socially conscious environmentally responsible funds). they’re going to see what they do to make this work within the structure… so that was encouraging. now i’ve just got my fingers crossed that it goes smoothly from here on… lesson learned. speak up. its not like anybody out there is all that surprised to learn i’m a hippie…
