holy crap

Usually I’m a pretty calm person who can use logic to overcome most :) of the anxieties of life—except today..
Me and cars…I just don’t know. I’ve had bad experiences (one in particular where a mechanic made a mistake, dropped a screw in my engine costing me $2000 to fix-I really got screwed there!) so anytime something happens to a car of mine, it’s an automatic reaction to panic. I’m leaving work today, and the engine light comes on in my car. I have a 2000 Civic, so I’m thinking it’s possible there could really be something wrong. I hightail it to the dealer, I’m sure they thought I was nuts…they took it in to look at it. I’m sitting there waiting, calculating a declining balance in my bank account/increase in debt…and the mechanic comes out and tells me that the engine needs a new computer and some other stuff I don’t understand. Sounds expensive to me, I’m thinking, but in his next breath, he said that he thought it was covered under warranty. I nearly kissed the guy right then and there. I just saved $1500 -this particular engine problem is warrantied longer than the typical 5 year/100K
So, I guess the point of my story is, I completely freaked out, called a friend (who actually came to the dealership to make sure I wasn’t going to lose it!)and I don’t understand why. I tried to say to myself ‘it’s only money’ but it didn’t really work. I’ll just have to keep getting newer cars I guess :)
