A. Buying a used Honda Civic (or whatever) that gets 30+mpg for $5,000. Then use the other $15,000 to buy all new energy efficient appliances, make your house more energy efficient, buy locally grown food, support environmental causes, etc… Plus, you get the added bonus of recycling an existing car and not contributing to the manufacturing of more “stuff.”
B. Spending $20,000+ on a hybrid that gets 50+mpg. You are contributing to the acceptance of a new technology by being an early adopter. If more and more people actually buy hybrids then the car companies will create more models to choose from. Plus, you get the added benefit of looking more like you care for the environment.
Honestly, what do you think?
