I’ve had my guitar for almost 10 years. It’s in great condition and I barely play it. I want to play it more often but have been struggling to find time. I’m currently knee deep in trying to save money and pay debt and in my last class it was suggested that we sell things to help speed the process. That everything material can be bought again… But, it’s my guitar. I could get 200 for it probably. Very good quality instrument…. but there’s a sentimental value with it. So, I’m feeling torn. Sell it and make some great progress on my #1 priority right now. Or keep it and hopefully find time to practice.

Lesson 3 tonight. Went well. I have tons of homework now and I’m absolutely amped about it. I’m starting to learn tab and am now practicing strumming in rhythm. My friend also taught me finger picking. That will take a considerable amount of practice I’m sure but I’m excited to feel like I have more than enough to keep me SUPER occupied and challenged.

Well, I definitely decided that it was time to accomplish this goal. As of last Wednesday I started paying a friend of mine to teach me how to play guitar. He teaches at a local music store and I figured that since I’m not accomplishing the goal by trying to learn for free-on my own-that I should pay someone to help me out AND keep me accountable.
Last week I learned D, G, E and A chords. I just had a lesson right now and he taught me C and F. We went over strumming down and up and playing in rhythm. I have some background in music so I think I’m catching on and understanding a little easier than if I didn’t… still its and adventure.
(Learning on a steel string guitar… fingers hurt BUT I am loving every second of this!)
