This is definitely worth doing!!! I found it very easy to start and extremely difficult to finish, but I think that’s the case for most people. Now the hard work of finding a publisher begins!
I’ve been lucky with the other 3 books I’ve written because they were published without me having to pay a penny. Unfortunately the hard work doesn’t stop there because the problem with small publishers is that they don’t have a budget for marketing and a few global companies run the whole business. Getting your book on the shelf in the bookstore is very difficult.
I am delighted, however, because word of mouth marketing seems to be working and sales of my short stories have really started to take off. People who have bought the short stories have then gone on to buy the novel, so I’m really happy with that. Although word of mouth is a slow process, it has an underground feel about it and feels more honest somehow.
I would encourage you all to keep writing. I look forward to reading your publications.
