Do the Flylady daily missions

Wednesday{color:red} – Clean off the floor of the closet and find two pairs of shoes to give away
Done – sort of. There are a couple of clean and neatly folded clothes on the floor of the closet that need to go to another room in the house. I left those there. I did find three pairs of shoes that get to find a new home and was thinking that there is a ‘shoe cubby’ thing in the garage that can probably have all of it’s shoes given away and the cubby thing can be given away as well. I haven’t needed a pair of shoes from that thing in several years now.

Thursday %{color:red}- Clean off the nightstand %
Done – I decluttered and wet-wiped the top of the nightstand. I put two books that had lived on the shelf of the nightstand for more than a year and hadn’t been looked at, even briefly into the library.

Friday %{color:red}- Clean off the dresser %
Done – by default. There is a dresser in the bedroom, but on top of it lives the TV, DVD player, TiVo, etc. All of this “stuff” lives on top of the dresser, leaving no room for anything else. I’m not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing ;) The only thing on top of the dresser that is not electronic equipment is a reed air freshener. A couple of weeks ago that had completely evaporated, so I replaced that today.

Tuesday – bathroom rugs and wiping off the top of the washer/dryer
-Didn’t do this on Tuesday due to Valentine’s day and ended up taking all week to get caught up – but all the missions are done (mostly ;) !

Wednesday – bathroom mirrors, dryer lint trap and vent
-Ok – I didn’t clean the vent tube, but I do have a brush for it and will do it next time.

Thursday – bathtub and laundry room trash can
-Didn’t take out the trash only because it had been emptied fairly recently

Friday – take a bath (enjoy the clean bathroom) and put up a picture in the laundry room
-Didn’t put up a picture (already have one) and love it…but reflected on how much I love the picture :)

Monday – change the sheets

Tuesday – clean under the bed
-Wow, there was a TON of dust under the bed.

Done, done and done…mostly ;)

The sides/front of the toilets are clean (a surprising amount of dust had collected along the backside of the toilets) and the laundry ‘stuff’ has been decluttered. Not much went away, but I did put some ‘one use’ laundry soap things up front where I’d see them (and hopefully will use them) and brought some Shout wipes into the house for M to take to work.

Today’s mission was to clean the seals and handles of the refrigerator and dishwasher. There was also a surprise mission to check your drivers license and see when it expires and add that date to your calendar.

Done and done!

Done! The ring of slightly pink stuff that was starting around the back of the faucets and the hard water mineral rings that were starting are both gone.

Today’s mission was pretty easy too. A while back I tossed out most of my plastic containers and bought a set of “Lock & Lock Premium” containers. (They’re fabulous and unlike the normal Lock & Lock containers, they’re shaped so containers of the same size nest inside each other.)

I went through some of my older plastic containers that I’d kept around and found I had a lot of extra lids (in the recycle bin now) and found some usable containers (lid + container) that I put in the ‘To Give Away’ pile. By getting rid of these containers, I now have two empty (albeit small and pretty high up in the cabinet ;) shelves!

I also found a ‘TV Dinner’ shaped plastic container and lid that’ll be great for saving dinner for M when he’s late at work.

This was pretty easy. I’d decluttered the pantry around December and tossed the old stuff back then.

I put all of the cooking wines/vinegars/sherry, etc on the top shelf like I’ve been thinking about for a while and put the three jars of cereal together so they were easy to grab this morning. I also put the tea from the pantry into the ‘tea cupboard’, but I now I need to find some boxes that are a good size for all of that tea.

Done! I sprayed the inside of the trash cans, wiped them clean (they weren’t too bad, just a couple of spots of coffee grinds), sprayed the outside and wiped them down.

I removed the mangled ‘Recycle’ label off of the Recycle can and put on fresh ‘Trash’ and ‘Recycle’ labels on the appropriate cans.
