I wanted to share a random act of kindnesss someone did for me. It was so nice and unexpected, that I just have to share it with someone.
One night several months ago after my class at school, my teacher & I (and a few other students who had stayed after class) walked out to the parking lot to drive home & go our seperate ways. I was standing at my car holding a ton of binders, materials, & other things trying to find my keys in my huge purse when I saw my teacher in his car pull up next to me. He said he would wait till I got in my car safely before he left. I told him I would have put my stuff on top of my car to make it easier to find my keys, but my car was soaking wet from the cold weather so I couldn’t. He was like, Here let me help you….and he got out of his car & held all my things for me while I looked for my keys. I was so taken aback that he actually cared enough to stop what he was doing for a few minutes & help me out like that. I mean, it was 10 at night, and I’m sure he was very tired from a full day of work & just wanted to drive home and eat dinner & see his family. ..but he put himself aside for a minute to be totally selfless. And as you can see, it really made an impact on me. This happened months ago, and I still think of it all the time. He really inspired me to do something like this for someone else. Honestly, he gave me hope that people really are capable of doing wonderful things for others just for the sake of helping another person….without asking for anything in return.
I want to write him a little letter telling him how much it meant to me, but do you think that would be a bit awkward coming from a student? I tend to get a little mushy in these situations. Hehe =)
