Rescue an animal

For the last few years we have seen an influx in cats in the neighborhood. We have a green belt behind the house that must make good hunting grounds or something. But About two years ago the neighbors had a cat and she had a litter of kittens. They did not know that the cat is fertile right after having kittens so she got pregnant again right away. The got kicked out of the house and took the kitten she had had and left her to fend for herself. I took her in and made an appointment with a no kill shelter to take her and her kittens when she had them. She had them two days before she was scheduled to be dropped off – a cute litter of three. All four got adopted. Shortly after that I found another cat in our yard very dehydrated and very pregnant. I bribed her with some wet food and water got her in a kennel and took her to the nearest no kill shelter that said they could take that day. She survived and had her kittens as well. We had a dog that lived with us for many years that was dumped at the corner – she had been abused – she lived to be over 17 years old. Now I currently have a cat to that adopted me – she was left on the street as well. It is very rewarding – but it is frustrating that people think animals are so disposable.
