on holiday now, 2 weeks in my home country. hectic times.. what ive been reading…
dumped that vampire book until quieter times.
read john irving’s ‘the immaginary girlfriend’.
started ‘the world according to garp’. i can see its gonna be one of my favourite books.
but then the holiday started.
so i picked up in my country 2 translations of john fowles ‘the french lietenant woman’ and ‘daniel martin’. i’ll finish hese books in a matter of days, both of them, as reading is truly a pleasure and much more comfortable and easier on my focus as they’re in my native language. but im not complaining. so started daniel martin.

I am so busy these days :(. I barely have time for myself. And a book. And internet at home maybe once a week :(/ And I feel obliged to read this book called ‘The historian’. It’s a story about the troubles an american girl and her father ( and other literate people) are going through because of.. The Vampire.. Dracula… This book has been given to me to read by my boss. She just found out I would read ‘anything;’ and she said ‘this book is a page turner I’m sure you’re gonna love it’. I find it sooo hard!! I’m 40% through it and the only thing that arouses my curiousity is how my boss’es mind works, in order for her to enjoy this book.. this is like absolute trash for me… but i shall pursue it, in case i missed a thing up to now.

‘A widow for one year’. 27% through the book, enjoying it…
‘Until I find you’ – J Irving hasn’t met me half way at all. I gave up at page 79. I still have deep simpathy for the little boy, but at the moment my attention cannot and doesn’t want to take in any more of the zillions of details about the boy and his mum’s adventure. Randomn poeple in randomn places that only add to the story what perhaps only one character could have easily added.I might sound bi_atchy but and without any right to talk badly about a book since I HAvent wrote ONE myself, but I think authors put themselves outthere in within the shot range with anything they publish. But alas, it may just be the wrong time for me to read that book. After all, my favourite of ALL TIMES, ‘The Magus’ of John Fowles, has been on my bookshelf for 10 YEARS before I could progress over page 3.
Necst izz ..
The Great Gatsby or… ‘Untill I find you’ ( J Irving)
You can tell a good book by the impresson the characters leave on you. Altough Lolita is seen through H H’s eyes and she appears more like a 2 dimensional mute black and white old movie figurine, I felt her presence all the timethrough the read and I also felt I found out so much about her inner world, although so little was said. Great book
I loved it. Now I better understand more aspects of Azar’s ‘Reading Lolita in Tehran’. This is a book that I am gonna reread at least once through my life, I know.
My first Nabocov, it took me a while to get tuned in to the writting style, which is very poetic – I thought. Half way through it I was about to quit reading it. It was all ‘the same’ and I didn;t see any interesting way out of the story. My curiousity regarding how the ‘beheading’ will actually be helped me to soldier on. The finish was exhillarating and refreshing and it made me understand why I found the story so dreary half way. One of the best books I have read untill now.
