I’m a 47-year old man. I’ve avoided skiing ‘cause I hate the cold. Or so I thought until two winters ago when a woman I was dating took me skiing in, of all places, Kansas City. I fell in love with it.
Took my two youngest kids skiing once last year and had a blast—on the bunny hills. My 6 y/o daughter took to skiing without a hesitation. My 14 y/o son goes with his mother and is quite good.
We went again this past Sunday. The kids skied away from me and didn’t look back. I just fly down the hills and hope and pray I don’t hit anyone. I can turn enough to avoid people, but not much else.
Perhaps I’m too scared. Too old to have that ‘nothing can hurt me’ attitude.
I gotta get over the fear—cause I love skiing. What little I can do.
