Thanks everybody, for the cheers!
It was my first ever road race.
It was a cool morning, as we’d had a nice cooling thunderstorm on Friday evening, and it was still cloudy. The start was just at sunrise, and the race took us through the suburbs of Menlo Park and Waterkloof.
I did not run alone. Friends form Toastmasters were there too, and I ran with one of them.
This being the first time, my goal was simply to complete, but our time was 67 minutes. It was not too hard for me, and I’m happy with my fitness.
I was most impressed with the real marathoners, who ran 21.1 and 42.2 km, and got to the finish before us. There were grey-haired walkers too who finished before us.
