I saw the road, guessed at where it lead, and turned around. Nothing to quench adventure like duty at the office calling.
Yesterday I planned carefully, and it was an adventurous day. Today I planned carefully, and it was an adventurous day. I think I need to plan my days carefully more often.
I signed on as NaNoWriMo ML for Pretoria in a spirit of adventure. I’m discovering new places and new people, and new ways to do things.
One of the simplest ways to be an adventurer is to take the road you don’t usually take. Tonight I once again discovered a new shortcut by cycling up the road I usually don’t take. The shortcut bypassed the scary-looking (but probably quite harmless) corner that I had kept me away from trying it.
I could also mention that this adventure was caused by a national adventure. My adventure and discovery came because I had a choice of detours. The detour is necessary because of the construction of the Gautrain, our country’s first rapid-transit rail system.
Believe it or not, but I’ve decided that my next adventure will be to take something I’ve bought back to the shop. The salesman said I could, so I’m going to try it.
Tomorrow morning I will be leaving on a train journey to Cape Town. Circumstances will be very different from the last time I did something similar, two decades ago.
I will deliberately not be taking my laptop with me, so I will possibly not be on 43 Things to report how it’s going. I wish all my subscribers a pleasant week. If I do get time and feel compelled, I may post to my travel blog.
There are times when it is perhaps better to not be an adventurer. When it’s a dark night and its raining and one is tired it is probably better to take the well-known freeway rather than the narrow unknown road.
