Out of the four Caliphs, I find Ali to be the most intriguing. He was the youngest person to embrace Islam at the age of 8. He was the Prophet’s cousin and benefited from his companionship and teaching greatly. Propher Muhammad (Peace be upon him) once said, I am the capital of knowledge while Ali is its gateway. Throughout his lifetime, Saidina Ali memorized the entire Quran and recorded many verses documenting the Prophet’s practices and advice.
His life was a turbulent one especially during his final years. A reluctant ruler, his people were greatly divided and had to wage war against several factions. Despite this, he is remembered by history as a fearless warrior, enlightened scholar as well as the last of the great four Caliphs.
First one off the 51 books I am yet to read. I started The Appeal a few weeks ago, then I dropped it to make way for the Twilight series. Figured I might as well finish what I started.
My 10-word review of this book..
Not his best and probably my last Grisham ever. :(
p/s: A lackluster start to this goal but heck.. I gotta start somewhere.
