I'm more nature-inclined these days 3 years ago

..even if I’m not spending as much time communing with nature as I wish I could. I feel like I can now appreciate the beauty of nature even more these days, unlike before where I wouldn’t even give it a second thought. Hopefully I’ll have some time before end of the year to go jungle trekking or maybe white water rafting. Should plan this properly, else it might never happen. But for now, I am marking this as “done”.

My body aches 3 years ago

after a stint of gardening. It’s so obvious that I am not cut out for hard labour. Even the easiest of gardening tasks get to me. As I write this, I’m so tired I could fall asleep mid-sentence. But I gotta shower, change and jump into my car for my weekly Sunday night routine – picking up my son at his dad’s place. At least tomorrow I’ll take pride knowing I have a new batch of Japanese Roses growing in my new flower bed. I just hope by this same time tomorrow, my body wouldn’t protest as badly as it does now.

My first hiking trip 3 years ago

I finally got the chance to check out FRIM, a reserved forestry area we have not too far from KL which is preserved mainly for research purposes.

I’ve heard about it through friends and was so excited when I got an invitation to attend a charity event that was hosted there. So yeah, I got to kill a few birds with one stone today :)

We went on a short hiking trip which included several children with hearing difficulties. It was fun watching these kids enjoy nature, all curious and full of wonder. I am reminded that my inner child has been asleep for far too long.

The picture above describes “crown shyness”, a phenomenon where the upper branches of the trees would sway gently in the wind, but never touching each other, as if they were charged with opposing electrons. It was such a magnificent sight to behold and I cherished every minute. Plus the guide was wonderful, explaining every single detail about the tress, leaves and how nature preserves itself.

I wanna go again soon and try out the Canopy Walk. Didn’t get to do it today as the program was a bit rushed. Thinking of getting a few friends to come along, maybe have a picnic, etc. I am sure it will be time well spent.
