Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

This might become a habit

I admit, initially it did feel a bit depressing, but now I actually look forward to going to the movies alone.

Just got home after watching the second installment of “Pirates of the Carribean – Dead Man’s Chest”. Before the movie, bought more new books and one audiobook. Went home right after, but not before splurging on a mixed kebab for a late lunch along with an iced crush cappucino (I drink too much of this stuff, even if it’s raining outside).

A bit tired after all that, and the movie lasted about 2 1/2 hours. Still it was highly enjoyable and I thought this one had a bit more “meat”, setting the stage for the third installment quite nicely.

I couldn't miss MI3

I don’t care what others say, this movie was a blast and a continuous shot of adrenaline from start to finish. Forget all that talk about this being all about Cruise, even if that’s true.. so what. I enjoyed it thoroughly and even kinda forgot I was alone, coz I was muttering to myself when the suspense got too much to bear.

I have to say, this is a brand new experience for me. But for a first time experience, I’d say this experiment was a success :) Will definitely do this again, most probably to catch Davinci Code and X-Men3.

BTW, JJ Abrams rock! MI3 is superb in my book. If you’re a fan of the MI series (or of Alias for that matter!), I say go catch this movie. Maximally awesome, no matter what those critics say.

Maybe this weekend

I want to go see Syriana, and gal pal is unavailable. Sucks a bit, but it’s more unfortunate really. I don’t feel like asking anyone else to come with me. Not that I have any other agenda I’d rather pursue on my own. Maybe I just need to be by myself, be one amongst many, lose myself in the crowd and revel in my anonymity.

Might as well..

My gal pal’s been too busy and our schedules are way off. I’ve missed a few good movies b’coz of that, which is such a crying shame. Nways, I don’t think I’ll have a hard time completing this goal, unless of course I can’t even make time for myself. I’ve already gone to a classical concert by myself and that was loads of fun. Maybe some time this month, we’ll see..

Ninawills has gotten 23 cheers on this goal.
