I really need to start making a list of what I want to include in this time capsule. I also need to explain this endeavour to my son, so he can get a good idea of what it’s about and make a list.
One thing I have been pondering . . . for too-much-money, you can purchase a time capsule kit. The big advantage to this is that these are (assumably) buying a container that should last for quite some time over the year(s).
Another question is: How long until we open the time capsule? One year? Five? Ten? My son’s high school graduation?
Yet another question: Where to leave the time capsule? I have determined that it must be a place where no one will accidentally find it and that we will have access to in x number of years. Since a possible move is in our near future, our current property isn’t a great bet. We don’t want to show up in 10 years, digging in someone’s backyard. Public parks, beaches, etc. aren’t much good because anyone could come along and dig it up in that time period . . . especially the metal detecting folks.
PS: Yes, “assumably” is a word!
