Research my genealogy

Last summer I finally really started delving into this goal, and actually accomplished quite a bit! I spent many hours in graveyards last summer, lol. Unfortunately, I think I burnt myself out a bit and haven’t done much these last few months. But, I have made progress!

Sunday at church my mom had a surprise for me…turns out that another lady that goes to church with us is related to us (a little distantly), and she brought a chunk of our family tree in for us!) Can’t wait to get to look at it:)

When I went to my parent’s house yesterday for dinner, I was pleasantly surprised.

My mom had received in the mail (from one of our more distant relatives) two photos, one of my great grandfather, and one of his wife, my great grandmother! On the back were their names, birthdates, when one of them passed away, and their wedding anniversary! It was so awesome to be able to see what they looked like!

I know very little about my mom’s side of the family because my grandfather died when mom was very young. He had been married before he married my grandma, and when he passed away, his children from his first marriage took all of the family records. This was a very nice surprise:)

After searching for the longest time, I finally found some info. on my mom’s side of the family (which is an even bigger mystery than my dad’s…) and so I took some time off.

But now I’m ready to start digging agaiin!

this week, and so far have found out a good bit of info. (mostly names, not really any other information yet.) Can’t wait to dig deeper!

First, I need to find all of my info. I’ve already collected. (It’s somewhere in our basement which is a total disaster area at the moment as it is being remodeled…)
I will get a 3 ring binder and put my paper ‘stuff’ in it so that I can keep it organized, and I just added geneaology software to my ‘wish’ list (hint, hint, hubby;)
