Twice last week. 2 years ago

I took 2 yoga classes last week. My goal was three but I stayed in bed too late one day.

I changed this goal from “run” to “exercise.” I recently started doing yoga. I still want to run a lot, but I’ll be very happy if I’m doing yoga 4 times a week. It’s so relaxing!

I ran/walked today for the first time in months. I’ve been wanting to get started again, but kept procrastinating. It feels good to work out again.

I'm doing this! 3 years ago

Since I came to D.C. in late May, I’ve been accomplishing this. It’s so much easier to go running when I walk right out of my front door and have such an exciting, beautiful, inspiring place to run. I didn’t realize that one of my other goals, to live somewhere I don’t have to drive a car, was tied to this one. I should have realized that it would be much easier to run when you’re living in a walking city.

so sad

I'm so busy!! 3 years ago

This is going to have be on hold for a little while. Lately I’ve been running twice a week, last week I ran once, & I will hopefully get in at least one run this week. I want to run more, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to fit it in with everything else right now. I’m working 25-30 hours a week, taking 17 hours this semester(and striving to get a 4.0), doing a couple of extracurricular activities that will hopefully improve my resume, and studying for the foreign service exam. I really want to become a better runner, but I’m not going to stress about it right now.

Ran on the treadmill again today. I did much better this time. I ran the entire time. I didn’t even look down at the indicators until more than 20 minutes had gone by! It felt good.

I ran again at the school gym today. I have obviously regressed, and am not at the level that I was a few weeks ago. That’s what I get for slacking off while I was freaking out about my move. Anyway, I’m really glad that I’m finding time to run. It’s going to take a little while, I think, before I get used to the treadmill. I actually like running outside better. Outside, I feel like I’m making progress, I’m literally going somewhere. On the treadmill I’m going nowhere, and I have my time and distance right in front of me. Once I start looking down at the indicators, I can’t stop. It’s so demoralizing. I do like the gym fairly well, however. Plus they play some decent music. Well, not decent music. It’s mostly misogynistic crap but it has a good beat.

Ran on the treadmill yesterday at the school gym. It wasn’t a great run-I was on the treadmill for a half an hour. It was good, though, because just going to a gym intimidates me. That makes one run last week and one so far this week. If I make myself run today and tomorrow I’ll have three this week.

Finally! 4 years ago

I finally ran again today-after a month! I ran almost 4 miles, and it was surprisingly easy after having been such a slacker. Now that my life is getting a little bit more back to normal-the holidays are over, school is starting again, & I’m getting settled in my new apartment-it should be a little easier to get back on track. I’ve lost a bit of weight from running the last 6 months, & I really want to keep it off.
