Go someplace very, very dark and look at the stars all night

I was stationed in W Texas in 1982, during my training in the Air Force. I had a good friend there… wish I could remember his name. The last night we spent together before he shipped out to another base, he took me for a long motorcycle ride. We rode out to the middle of the countryside… nothing but road. I was mystified when we stopped because he had told me he had a present for me. He got off the bike and turned to me and said, “Look up.”
I was raised in the big city. The sight that was my “gift” I had never seen in my life, nor ever since. So many stars that I couldn’t see the sky! Amazing!
Here, in the middle of the big city, I look up at night and long for that scene of a sky WHITE with stars! One of these days I’m getting outta “dodge” and will see this again!
