talk to my crush

Nick at the deli has been acting very strangely. Maybe he’s not interested, maybe he’s playing hard to get all of a sudden. But I ignore him as much as he ignores me, because I have good reason to believe its over something stupid. In early September I was talking to him one night and he seemed okay, cautious about making the first move because he knows I like him too, which I thought was so cute. It was pretty dead in there, were were talking about a guy he works with that noone likes. I said “Oh hes okay” and he said “Well you dont have to work with him” Eventually the very same dude came over and was like “It’s so dead in here can you believe this? Nobodys here.” Nick was smiling cause we were just talking about him. I said “Well we have eyes, we can see theres noone here.” And I started laughing cause I was joking around. I noticed Nick trying to stifle his laughter. But this guy looked at us, and it was like he took it personally, and was offended and pissed off that I said that! He went back to work. We were both laughing and whispering and I’m like “What was that? Now I know why noone likes him.” We said goodbye, and I went to put some stuff back. I hardly ever see Nick so I went back to the deli counter to say bye again before I went home, and he seemed distant, trying not to look at me, he didnt want to bother talking to me. When I left I noticed that dude was talking to him, definitely about me. And its continuing, he used to come onto my line, the other day I was on register and he went on 10 while I was 11. And 10 was a longer wait, and its not like he wanted to talk to his friend, she just started so he doesn’t even know her! I pointed behind my next customer who had two items, smiled and said “Get over here!” He did not even smile, he just shook his head “no.” And now that I think about it, he did have a smirk, one that said “Yeah, right.” WTF is up with him. And when I would say “Hi” and he would look annoyed that I said something to him. Of course I’ve been giving him a taste of his own medicine, not even saying hi, walking by the deli and not even looking his way. But the only thing that could have happened in those 5 minutes, when I went to put the stuff away, then went back to see him, that asshat said something about me. Something very untrue. Cause thats the exact moment he started acting weird.

I like a guy at work at Stop & Shop. I’m a cashier, he works at the deli, I think he likes me too. And it’s not like I’m morbidly afraid of talking to him. I graduated more than a year ago, back in high school I was shy and was too nervous to talk to various guys…even if I didn’t like them. I’ve changed though, actually just today I was bagging for a customer and he passed by, probably on lunch. I yelled “Hi Nick!” He looked at me and smiled, said “Hey how are you” or something to that effect. So like most cases, it’s not that I’ve yet to go up to him and say hi, that stuff comes naturally to me now that I’m more outgoing. I’d just like to talk to him more often. I can’t help but smile when he’s around.
