Days 26 and 27 18 months ago

I was feeling so tight from all of the riding that yesterday morning I couldn’t not do a practice. I did about 20 minutes worth on my own. similarly, today I skipped a long saturday morning ride due to tight and strained leg muscles so I did an hour with shiva rea to loosen things up. these are the first things I’ve done (and the first times I’ve broken out my new map) since Day 12.

Day 13-19 19 months ago

eek! I full week with no yoga except teaching and preparing for teaching. i have watched a few movies and quite a bit of random tv this week, though. somehow, despite my logical mind, I still head for the tv for relaxation after a long day rather than a soothing practice. despite my verbal commitment to yoga, I continually am unable to make it a priority part of my day.

Day 12 19 months ago

had planned to get up early and hit the gym, but was really feeling the need for some yoga instead. did about 30 minutes with Sarah Powers to which I credit the great day that followed (okay, the gorgeous weather might have helped too)

Day 11 19 months ago

worked til 6pm (too late for favorite class at Sweat) then immediately did my taxes. I blame my lack of yoga that day on the IRS.

Day 9 and 10 - yes and yes...and yes! 19 months ago

left work in just enough time yesterday to walk home with j, get changed and get to yoga class. a fantastic class as usual.

woke up this morning and saw that the weather was good for biking to work. so I skipped the gym and did some yoga at home instead. 30 minutes w/ Gary Krafstow of viniyoga fame. my bad and hamstrings were in some sort of way and were crying out for some therapeutic lovin. plus I ran through my lesson plan tonight pre-class. that’s double duty for today!

Day 8 19 months ago

was insanely early to teach yoga class tonight so actually had time to run through almost the entire practice myself. plus demonstrating (not too much, but enough) during class. i’m counting it, dammit. and I will be at sweat yoga at 5:15 tomorrow!

Day 4 – worked ridiculously late, made dinner, hostess-ed various members of the “Crack Crew”?!?, ate ice cream, went to bed. no yoga.

Day 5 – a long friday. went in early and was supposed to head straight to a friend’s studio opening directly after work. didn’t make it because i was a disheveled, smelly wreck after moving 10,000+ lbs of produce, some in the rain. met j for a drink instead and had gianna’s for dinner. no yoga.

Day 6 – gym in morning, volunteering, hanging with mdm, more hanging with mdm and l?b and (lots of) super yummy drinks at Horizons. late night. no yoga.

Day 7 – sluggish and hazy, but still up relatively early. skipped sweat yoga promising to do personal practice in the afternoon. innumerable hours on the interwebs (including super-important search for japanese pig paraphernalia), chores, wrote lesson plans (can that please count) and finally an “aw f’it, I’m done” netflix movie. turned in early. no yoga.

so I’m having a less than 50% success rate here. not so good

Day 3 19 months ago

already time for a bit of revising on this goal to be more reasonable. on teaching nights, I’m going to cut myself some slack and count that toward my goal also. things might ease up as I go along, but right now, I don’t see how I’ll have enough time when I get home to eat, interact with the boyfriend, practice and still get to bed at a reasonable time. if it works out that I can practice the morning of, wa-hoo and I get props, but I’m not going to beat myself up on these already long days.

Day 2 19 months ago

Yesterday I made it home in time for one of the 5:15 classes I like, but boy was I in some sort of state. When I got there, my heart was racing and I felt nauseous. Not sure if it was racing to get home, drinking a diet sprite while doing so, feminine woes or what!? All I know is that I spent a large majority of the class talking myself out of leaving. it’s amazing the fight the mind can put up!! in the end, of course, I was glad I stayed.

Day 1 19 months ago

contrary to what I said yesterday (http://www.43things.com/entries/view/2914993) I am going to count tonight’s teaching class as my yoga for today. but only because I broke all of the rules I’ve been taught and did pretty much a complete practice while teaching. My heartrate was up (talking while holding plank works up a sweat!) and my hips were noticeably looser on the walk home.
