get a laptop

A little less than two hours ago, this shiny new HP that’s sitting on my lap finally made it into my hands.

Apparently, they delivered it to my apartment’s lease office. Once I figured that out, it was only a matter of showing up when someone was there.

I’m very happy with it. It’s pretty much done being set up now. I’ve got a lot of my most frequently used programs installed on it, and am now in the process of copying my music over to it from a disc I burned.

So far, I haven’t figured out what all the negative fuss about Vista was, I actually like it. I haven’t really tried out the new office yet, but I expect I’ll like it too once I’ve gotten used to it.

Definitely an upgrade from using my Wii to access the internet lol…

I think I’ll keep it!

The tracking number finally updated showing it was delivered over an hour ago. Still, I’m sitting here with nothing. I went to see if someone at my lease office had signed for it. They aren’t there right now though. Supposedly back in about 20 more minutes.

Alright, it shipped this morning. I was kind of expecting that to mean it would be here Tuesday. When I looked at the online tracking though, the estimated delivery is tomorrow. I have to work tomorrow, and it requires a signature, so I’m not sure if I’ll actually get it tomorrow or not. Either way, I’m really sick of typing with a wiimote and will probably be pretty lazy with my entries and comments until this thing is sitting in my lap.

Alright, I got the problem sorted out and then was able to place the border over my lunch break. I think they’ll send me a tracking number tomorrow. It said inn the next two business days. I used 3-day shipping, I’m not sure if you only counnt business days or what, but that still puts it here by next Wednesday if it ships tomorrow.

So, by Thursday at the latest(if it ships Monday), I should be making posts on my new HP laptop.

I was going to order it tonight from Circuit City(they’re having a sale ‘til Saturday), but for some reason the card was declined. I know the card is good though, it’s well below the limit, has had larger purchases on it in the past, and was used to purchase gas earlier today, so I’m not sure what the problem is. I guess this means a few phone calls tomorrow and try again.

I’ve wanted a laptop for quite a while now, and in the past month, have decided to pursue the idea. I must’ve caught my dad in a generous mood when I brought it up because he offered to put it on his credit card and pay him back as I can. Obviously, I can’t go crazy, but that does definitely boost my options.

This may temporarily delay a couple of my goals that require money, but in the end I think it will only make them closer to my grasp. I’ve been searching now and then over the past month, but the past few days, I’ve been looking a lot more seriously. Hopefully more news on this soon :)
