Got everything on the floor again to go through. One of my friends’ streets is having a major yard sale at the end of the month and I figured it’s a perfect excuse to get everything out of the house by a certain date.

Just got to continue to sort through everything. Making myself get rid of a lot more stuff than I initially intended to. I’m even convincing myself to get rid of a lot of things I used to collect.

Going through and trying to get everything out of my room for a massive cleaning. Also, I’ve been wanting to paint my room a different color and completely redesign it(fighting with the idea of fixing the walls first, but that’s another huge project).

I still haven’t had a chance to go through the clothes that I took out of my closet the other day, but I bought some new clothes and I’m aiming towards getting rid of more clothes that don’t suit me well, since I’ve replaced them.

Cleared off my manga/video game/DVD shelf, so that’s one bookshelf that is clear. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet or where I’m going to put it. I might try and move it out to the garage temporarily, but I need to figure out what stays and goes in my room… Boxing stuff up and then going over it one at a time when I unpack it seems to be a good method for me.

I’m going to have to clear off my actual ‘book’ shelf again, and throw out more clutter that keeps showing up. I need to clean out my file cabinet, go through that… I need to organize all of my papers.

Steadily going to clear stuff out of my room. Maybe then I can get a better idea of where to put things, paint my room… Even if I just have to repaint it later because the walls are a complete mess, sigh.

Cleaned up my room, going through my closet and getting rid of some clothing items. Gonna try and go through my fabric soon and get rid of as much as I can.

Whooo. So I went through the bathroom today and got rid of half of the stuff that was in there. I still need to get rid of more, but I try and justify to myself that a lot of things are ‘travel sized’ therefore I must keep it. But it’s looking a lot better now. I have two of four shelves empty.

I moved around stuff in the front room, putting more stuff on the “to get rid of” side. There’s barely anything I’m keeping in there right now—thank god.

Also, went through my costume prop boxes and I’m getting rid of one of two. That’s a lot of stuff…

At least I’m making progress again!

...how is it that I lose more things the more that I clean and purge?

I lost a valuable piece of paper the other night. I’ve also lost my car keys (I think my mother lost them, really), my dad lost his driver’s license…

I’m starting to think the little girl in our house is having a field day with our possessions. :)

It’s more of a motivator than ever for me to clean and get rid of stuff so I can FIND what I’m missing. I think that’s why she’s doing it. She doesn’t like seeing the mess. :P

All right! Got three bags of my clothes out today, and dad made two bags from the clothes in the garage my mother has always tried to sell and get money from. We have about six boxes clear downstairs now! I’m going to use them and pack up the boxes for my collections (Goosebumps, Fear Street, Stephen King), so we can donate that bookshelf and get it out of the room. It’s falling apart and has been forever.

The front room is a lot more clear. I’ve still got stuff to hand off to people and pass around, and the rest of the stuff I pretty much have goals for.

My room is still a mess, but I mostly just need to box up stuff I want to get rid of that came OUT of my room and put it in the front room. I need to be able to put the table up and work on my costumes for the convention.

Made up a list on my journal of stuff that I thought my friends might like and said they could help themselves. I’ll have to hang on to most everything until the end of January, when I’ll see them, but at least I know they’ll be going to a good home.

The roommate is finally out. The cats are still staying with me for awhile, thankfully, because I’m not ready for them to leave. :) She’s only taken about half of her stuff, so I need to rearrange the front room once it’s clear, and stack up her stuff in part of it. I should be taking it up when I take the cats up, which will probably be around January 9th.

Sorted everything on my bookshelf into books to keep, and books to read once more before I get rid of them. The front room is a mess, but at least there’s less stuff than before. I have three large garbage bags of clothes to get rid of, and one large bag of trash.

As of right now, I cleared EVERYTHING off of the floor in my room and swept it for the first time in… god only knows. I need to sweep the hardwood up and clean it, since I can only vacuum the carpet.

Everything, instead of being on the floor, is on my bed. So I hope that I can go through everything on my bed and put it away before I have to go to sleep tonight. Have to get into WCH at 9am to renew a CD, though. Blargh.

Bathroom 10 months ago

Return to the bathroom! I got motivated trying to get one of my friends into 43things and decided I needed to work a bit more on stuff. The box of my things from the downstairs bathroom that I brought up and had set aside is now on the shelf in my bathroom, and now the box is filled with things from (one side) of my bathroom. I still need to clean the other side up, and then go over everything later and organize it, so I know what the hell and I have and what I can use up faster.

Taking the huge bag of trash around. Roomie still planning to move out this weekend, so it’ll be cool to see how much room is left after she gets all her stuff out.

On a plus note, some of the shoes I’ve been holding off on letting go have served a use! I modified one of them for a pair of shoes for a costume and they’re amazingly perfect. I’m very pleased. :3

As of right now, my plans are to finish the bathroom. Then, go over everything in the front room I put aside to get rid of and bag it up, so I’m more motivated to take it away and have more space to move stuff around in.

After that, clearing out ALL of my closet, taking everything out and then trying it on and looking it over before putting it back in. That includes looking over everything in the bottom.

Then, taking everything off of my bookshelf, looking it over before putting it back on. Once I donate some of my clothes, I’ll have spare boxes to put my book collections in temporarily so we can get rid of the shelves downstairs.

I’ve convinced my father to get rid of cookbooks! Now it’s just getting him to that point. If he decides to, and gets rid of some of his other books, we can probably clear off enough space on the bookshelves in the living room for my books. Yay!

Whoo. All right. I started poking at the bookshelf downstairs. I’m going to have to talk to dad about getting rid of cookbooks, since we haven’t used any in years. All we do anymore is look up recipes online. I took some of the photos out and poked at them for my goal of organizing all my photos, putting them into different piles. There’s quite a few I think I’m going to get rid of.

My roommate should be moving out on Friday or Saturday, so that’ll clear a LOT of stuff out. I cleaned out part of my closet last night, and need to dig through all of that before I put it back.

My dad has said he wants to be able to donate at least 100 items per month. I told him we can do a lot better than that!

I hope to get through some of my paperwork tonight. My family gets a LOT of magazines, and my dad has started mixing up ones I’ve already read with ones that are new. So I have to go through all of them and figure out which ones I can pass on to my mother, or take into work to put in the waiting room. I also tear out pages from magazines and go back to read them later. So I have a lot of stuff in my file cabinet that I can probably get rid of.

...my floor also really needs to be cleaned. Bleh.

Oh my. I’m sure everyone is starting to get sick of my entries, as sparse as they are, because I’m still not quite done. It’ll be a long way away! Talk about a really long term goal. I’m not sure how long I’ve even had this.

As far as recent updates go, progress was halted a bit because one of my friends moved in with me and the middle room, plus my room, is housing a LOT of her stuff. All of her possessions are in my house. Ack!

I have managed to get a bit of work done lately though. I cleared out FIVE boxes of clothes from my closet, got rid of two clothing racks (I still have one, holding taller items that would drag on the floor—I’m probably going to keep that rack around for convenience. Still need to go through my shoes, my costume closet, and then go through my closet again. Trying to talk myself out of stuff.

Also, yesterday I cleared off the tops of my tables/shelves in my bedroom, and put everything into boxes so that I could evaluate what I have. You get really used to seeing the same things over and over, and don’t really think “is this important to me?” There’s a few things that I still want to hang onto for a bit, though.

I’ll be clearing off my bookshelves soon, getting rid of books, manga and video games. I also need to box up all of the books that I intend on keeping, my collections, and just tuck them away for a bit so that we can get rid of the bookshelves downstairs that are practically falling apart.

Also going through the bathroom again at some point soon and getting rid of EVERYTHING that I don’t love. Mother can sort through what she wants, I just don’t want it around.

It’s hard to get rid of clutter when your mother moved out six months ago and refuses to take a lot of stuff because she doesn’t have any room for it. I think I need to set a good example. :P
