learn ballet

I was sitting in quietness the other day and a thought came to me.
“A dancer’s career begins when her physical body fades.” It doesn’t make sense. But I made a note of it. Maybe time will tell me what it means.

It’s been a while since the dance class I tried to attend in the summer was canceled. I ended up checking out a basic ballet video from the library and spent the last two months focusing on getting in better shape.

I’ll try again in the fall.

The jazz class I signed up for in a local community college was canceled. I have been looking forward to it, so I am going to keep trying to find another place to learn. A dance school a bit further out is offering beginner’s ballet for adults. I think I’ll try a class. I’ll have to take the subway there, but luckily the class is on Sundays.

The jazz class I signed up will start in July. It’s on Tuesday and Thursday night. To get myself ready, I am going to start doing stretches on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

I got the email reply from the local community college teacher who will be teaching a jazz class in July. She told me that it’s a very fun class and assured me that being in thirties with some extra pounds is not a problem. I signed up for the class online. Looking forward to it!

I decided to check out the local community college catalog and found out they offer a variety of dance classes, including a beginner jazz class that starts this week! I emailed the lady in dance department asking if it is ok for a 35 year old to be in the class. Now i’m waiting to hear back from her ;)
