Breathing zazen-style, I overcame my nervousness. I just joined the board of panelists for a thesis defense of forty high school students. I have defended feasibility studies and theses in the past, but being a panelist for the first time made me excited and nervous. Once seated at the panel table, I started breathing the zazen way. It made my hands warm, it started normal blood circulation, and I felt grounded. When I’m nervous, I tend to take flight. This time, I stayed on the earth and enjoyed my panelist role.

Ugh! Now I think my housemates think I am weird. Sitting seiza style, I am attempting to breathe through zazen… But I love its effect, and even if it gets boring sometimes, I still want to do this. I practice this right after the Tibetan rites exercises.
