When I was in Guatemala (last year—for a short term church mission trip) there was an active volcano there that went off once a month.
(due to the volcanic activity, the soil was really fertile = most delicious fruit ever. So not kidding!)
My first day there in the motel (we rented the whole place for ourselves, so it was like 2/3 empty?) we met someone in the group who had been staying before us but was leaving—-who had been planting trees nearby the volcano!
I thought that would be a great thing to do-certainly makes sense that the volcanos many eruptions would destroy trees and such-but they all thought it would be pointless (volcano would erupt anyway, right?) and DANGEROUS.
That would be kinda cool to be a Volcanologist (I think that’s what people who study volcanos are called)
I won’t ever be one, but that would be more interesting then many occupations.
I think seeing an active volcano is a fine goal to have-but at the same time, unlike some other goals I’m not sure what all I can do to work towards seeing an active one. I can write entries on trying to learn spanish or training to run a marathon-what words I’ve learned, when I’ve exercised and how much—but what am I supposed to write concerning my desires to see a volcano? Huh?
Maybe I should change this too a different goal I’ve had for much longer.
Sometime. . .I’m going to go camping on a glacier with my brother.
