Learn to play the piano

since I can now play a few tunes with both hands, can read a lot of notes and find them on the keys, can play a few chords, and add the pedal every now and then, I’d say I’ve learned. What I’ve learned most is that I have lots more to learn. I love when I can actually make it sound like music! That’s the biggest payoff. Playing Happy Birthday for someone on thier birthday was a big moment too. I will keep up the lessons and practice, and maybe be able to play some jazz some day.

I think that this goal is going well. I have been taking lessons for a while now, and feel comfortable moving on. I like my teacher, and don’t mind practicing (most of the time). Actually, I think I can say I’ve reached this goal. I played Happy Birthday for someone on thier birthday… this is something I could never have done even 3 months ago.

I found a teacher a couple of weeks ago, who is really interesting and has lots of experience. She challenges me and I have been seeing steady improvement while I practice. This goal is starting to go very well.

Yay! I now have a used piano and a book (complete idiot’s guide…). I’m having trouble finding a teacher close to home because they’re all booked up. But I’m having a lot of fun with just the book and trying to pick out melodies by ear, for now.
