work because I like to, not because I have to

And it’s pretty good so far – the office is friendly, but I’m worried about my first project. The first draft is due on Mon and I’m not really sure what my boss is looking for… But we’ll see – I’m great with reports and stuff, but have never tried rapporteuring before – so I guess I’ll learn the ropes quickly enough :)

.... but hopefully, in about 10 days, I’ll be starting an internship at TISS!! WOOOHOOOO :)
Still a lot of factors to consider, but this will work out this time, or at least I’m hoping it will. I can’t wait to start working on my new line of study – I don’t know much about it and thus, I’d like to get acquainted sooner with the subject matter.
Of course, hopefully they’ll pay me too – but either way, I’m gonna be a gopher for a while :D

I applied here for a diploma, but thanks to what may be now considered as forutnate circumstances, the diploma program itself is being upgraded to a 2-years masters program that will kick off in June ‘08, instead of a 1-year course that would have started at the end of this month.
This is awesome and more in the line of what I have thought up so far for myself in terms of a career. TISS is pretty cool – faculty, campus, atmosphere all very good, and one of the leading institutions in research in India & South Asia.
AND they are offering me a paid internship till classes start, beginning Jan 2008!! WOOHOOO :)

The thing is – I’m a fresher and thus, no one really wants you through these career/job sites unfortunately. Going to keep going at it, and hand out some of my resumes to family and friends. (Which is how most freshers get a start in the working world where I come from)

I want a job that pays decently for a basica fresher position. but I dont want to be in HR and that’s where all the money seems to be right now… Does nobody want a Psychology major with an outgoing personality, hardworking and willing to take on responsibilities. Also, will someone pay me to travel?? :D

I applied to a job at a prominent bank here in my country. It has international presence and will allow for travel (I hope).
But the thing is I have no banking or business background. I studied the liberal arts for god’s sake.
And I want to work in the social sciences. But it doesn’t pay much. And I’m prepared for that. But waiting for someone to hire me in that field is not going to allow me to live independently.

I feel I’m giving up on what I want. But then, I reel my mind in and realize that I have only sent in a resume. It’s not like I have been called up yet!
