get my doctorate

Yesterday I finished my one-year full time internship. Now, I only have to finish and defend my dissertation! What a long road!

I get to endure now….I was not chosen for an internship by any of the places with which I had interviewed. I am doing a lot of second-guessing, of course. Now I either find something “left over” or a newly announced position, or I wait another year.

Anyway else out there “not match?”

I had all three interviews by phone, long distance! I guess they went well, but it is very hard to tell just by voice. During the second one, someone tried to get into my home – the door handle was wiggling, then I heard the thump thump of what sounded like someone throwing their shoulders onto the door to unstick it. They couldn’t get in, and I am assuming it was someone who mistook my door for my neighbors, but it was distracting…I was trying to sound, calm, cool and professional, but did ask for a moment as “someone is trying to get into my home,” I said to the interviewers. Mind you, they were in Michigan and I am in PA. They agreed to call 911 for me if they heard me go thump! But we resumed the interview with no further interruptions!
Now I wait until Feb 23rd to see if any of the three sites with which I interviewed invite me to train under them….

Today I received another invitation from another site. I set up two of the interviews and will set the second one up next. My folks had their entire Baptist church in Florida praying for me as I was initially receiving rejection after rejection (well, 13 rejections) until a few days ago when the last three on my list were invitations! Thanks, pray-ers!

I received two invitations to interview at internship sites. PTL. This will take place in January. Won’t know until Feb. if any sites want to take me on for the year…

Pazienza!

Ten years ago….or five…or even earlier this summer, I didn’t think I could get this far. Thank you Jesus! Thank you friends and family! Thank you 43’ers who have cheered some of my goals here and there!

I am so happy to share the news that I passed my comprehensive exams and am a doctoral candidate! Woo Hoooo!

11. Mailed applications!

DONE (for now)

Next: Wait for possible interviews – will know if I get any in December…..

Need to make this a goal: Spending time daily on dissertation.
