Learn to sew my own clothes!

Bought a vintage Singer this weekend. In great condition. I love it. Comes with a cabinet too so my usual complaint re: no table is no longer valid. I plan to test it out this weekend. I really like the older machines. I can’t wait to get my hands on the really ancient black Singers, the ones that look like a sideways coke bottle.

I have a million free patterns now. some are cute, not sure how useful for winter, but I really want to get this sewing this going. My husband has finally decided to clean up the craft room so that I can find my sewing machine under all his old newspapers, so hopefully, a neat blouse will be made this weekend.

An awesome site. So inspirational and my minigoal is to make something that I’m not embarrassed to show there. I bought this really nice flowing cloth at walmart for $1 that I wanted to make into a cool but simple blouse. They had a neat tute on there that I should be able to follow despite my 10-thumbed 2 left hands. I hope I can get on that this week, it would be great to sew something new once a week, just to hone the skills and such. And I think I really need to learn about different types of cloth because I bought one before and it pisses me off how much it sheds? threads out? whatever the term is. So complementary goal is to learn about the characteristics of different fabric.
