The Kirkstall Abbey festival was yesterday. It took me about 40 mins to walk there and I took 122 pictures while I was there. Jousting, the Abbey, the parade, the morris men. Here’s one that shows how well the weather turned out (for a rather pleasant change).

This was taken right outside my flat, I know the moon is more than 43 mins away for me to travel there. But it takes less time than that for the light of the sun to get to the moon and reflect off it and into my eyes. So I think it still counts. Do you?
Anyway, this is the moon 1 minute into the total eclipse tonight. After this shot my camera refused to focus any more.

This was taken about 35-40 mins walk from my house.
It’s a converted warehouse by the side of the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Kirkstall near Leeds.

The winter trees this afternoon. I had been out of my flat for about 2 mins when I took this photo. I didn’t think I’d ever get a photo I liked that close to where I currently live.

I like playing games with perspective. I took this photo today on my first photography walk this year. I haven’t been out with the camera yet because I had exams. This one was taken about 25 mins walk from my flat. I stood on a bench at the top of a hill and zoomed a bit to take this image of the suburban backdrop behind this lamppost. It’s not perfect, but it was very cold and windy.

This windmill is less than 5 mins walk away from my house. I actually took this photo from the field at the bottom of my garden. Well my parents’ garden.
This windmill is rather special. It’s the only 8-sailed Windmill in the country. Years ago it didn’t have 8 sails, but the top got blown off in a bad storm. The people who lived there and ran it had left the brake on and a storm blew up in the night and before they could do anything about it the top blew off. The new top came from Boston, Lincolnshire (the original Boston). Recently they took the top off again and rebuilt the top few metres of the walls to make them stronger.

...I took a picture today within 43 mins of home, but I can’t upload any photos until I get back to my home at Uni. So I’ll add a batch of them in early-mid Jan 07.

Part of the Leeds Remembrance Sunday events. These veterans marched around Leeds in the cold and stood still for ages during the ceremony and then marched about a bit more. They did much better than the cadets. Two RAF cadets were stretchered off after they fainted.
This took place in the city centre by the art gallery. It took me about 40 mins to walk there this morning.

I hope this counts. You can see the tree at least. I have many better pictures of fireworks, but that’s just pictures of the sky really.
The park is about 20mins from my house.
